Operations Manager at Fyrbodal Rescue Service
Fyrbodal Rescue Service is a strong and forward-looking rescue service association that stretches from the sea in the west to Lake Vänern in the east.
The association includes the seven municipalities of Färgelanda, Lysekil, Mellerud, Munkedal, Trollhättan, Uddevalla, and Vänersborg.
You will join a completely new rescue service that was established on January 1, 2025. Today, we have about 460 employees. Of these, around 60 work during the day and 110 in operational activities, distributed across three full-time stations, including the command center. Other staff consists of on-call rescue personnel (RiB), distributed across 14 part-time stations.
Technical Unit
We are part of the Rescue Department, which also includes operational full-time and part-time staff as well as training and exercises. The Technical Unit operates throughout the association and currently consists of a unit manager with six employees who work during the day based at the fire stations in Uddevalla and Trollhättan.
The unit is responsible for the association's system for orders and deviation reporting regarding property, vehicles, and equipment.
Responsibilities are overall as follows:
- Properties - The unit has primary responsibility for the properties we operate in and manages contact with the administrators of the member municipalities and, if necessary, with other authorities.
- Vehicles - The unit has primary responsibility for all the association's vehicles and is responsible for annual inspections, maintenance, and service as well as advanced repairs. The work is carried out in close collaboration with employees in other units responsible for daily operations and maintenance of vehicles.
- Equipment - The unit has primary responsibility for the various types of operational equipment used within the association. The work is carried out in close collaboration with employees in other units responsible for the operation and maintenance of the equipment.
About the Position
In the role of operations manager, you will work with tasks directly related to the Rescue Department's mission to maintain and develop operational capability throughout the association, with a primary focus on equipment.
You will take coordination responsibility for the association's working groups within several designated operational responsibilities such as emergency equipment, breathing protection, storage, and hose care. As a coordinator, you will have a good overview of the association's collective purchasing needs related to finances.
You are expected to both lead and drive your own projects as well as be an active participant in project groups.
Tasks
- Lead and coordinate the unit's responsibility for equipment
- Approve and code invoices within the area of responsibility
- Participate in and conduct procurements
- Carry out and coordinate purchases
- Development work within the unit's areas of responsibility
- Actively participate in the unit's work and support colleagues in their assignments
- Perform tasks within the entire unit's area of responsibility as needed
Working hours are scheduled for daytime Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week.
For applicants with qualifications in rescue management, we would like to see, based on personal conditions and suitability, that the position is combined with one of our on-call operational functions. In this case, a background check may be relevant.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is self-driven, structured, and has an easy time prioritizing and following up on issues in dialogue with relevant functions. With clear and attentive leadership, you create order and direction and ensure quality in both planning and execution. You thrive in a coordinating role, build trusting relationships, and create participation in the organization.
The role also includes continuously establishing, nurturing, and developing collaborations with colleagues, suppliers, and authorities. It is therefore important that you have a natural ability to create contacts and that you work in such a way that it becomes easy to both establish and maintain long-term and good relationships.
We will place great emphasis on your personal qualities.
Requirements
- At least a high school education
- At least 2 years of experience working in rescue services or similar
- Good computer skills and comfort in working with digital systems
- Good knowledge of Office 365 and experience working systematically with documentation
- Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing
- Driver's license B
Meritorious
- SMO training or equivalent
- Completed rescue management training such as LK1, LK2, or equivalent MCF/MSB training
- Driver's license C
- Operational experience from working in rescue services or similar
- Experience in process management in strategic planning, development work, or quality management
- Experience working in municipal or regional collaboration, for example within rescue management systems or staff functions
- Work in a supervisory position, preferably within rescue services

The choice of placement location can be discussed. In our operations, all employees are war-placed.
